Erik Shorb

General Manager, Landscape Division

Erik Shorb, is the General Manager of the Landscape Division at American Plant Garden Center and Nursery. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston in 2001, he found his passion ultimately was within the horticulture industry. Working as a crew leader in the landscape division, Erik quickly developed an eye for detail, strong work ethic, and mastery of the Spanish language. He was promoted to the General Manager position in spring of 2008. He now applies his first-hand experience of the landscape industry to the efficient operation of the Landscape Division.

Donna Evans

Landscape Designer

Donna-EvansDonna has 30 years experience in the horticulture industry. She graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in 1982 with a BS in Ornamental Horticulture & Design. For 18 years, she owned and operated her own landscape design/build company. Her designs integrate walls, patios, walkways, the tastes and needs of her clients as well as environmental issues. Donna is a LEED Green Associate and addresses solutions for storm water management and reducing potable water use in our landscapes. Rain gardens, conservation landscapes and using drought tolerant plants are some of the strategies for these designs while keeping the ultimate goal in mind, the client’s satisfaction.

Susana (Susy) Altmann

Landscape Architect/Designer

Susy Altmann brings an international perspective to her work as a landscape architect and designer. Her impressive design/build portfolio includes work in the Washington, DC area, Venezuela, the Caribbean Islands, and Israel. With more than eighteen years experience, she has broad expertise in the construction of water features, patios, and other outdoor structures. She also embraces American Plant's "green" philosophy in the design and installation of native plant, rain and roof gardens. Susy has an architecture degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela and acquired knowledge of both tropical and local plant materials from her years of work in the area and her landscape technology studies at Montgomery College. She is a Certified Professional Horticulturist.

Susanna Membrino

Landscape Designer

Susanna sold trees and shrubs in our nursery for the past few years while running her own design business.  She received the Certificate of Landscape Design from George Washington University and has served as a Master Gardener in the District of Columbia volunteering at school gardens.  Susanna enjoys helping homeowners reconnect to the natural world by creating gardens that intrigue.  She specializes in our smaller jobs and enjoys the kind of creative problem solving that arises from working within the constraints of budget and space.  She is a member of the local Landscape Designers Group.

Tony Lightbourne

Estimator

Tony-LightbourneTony is an American Plant staff member since 1989 and since 1997 has been with the landscape division estimating work such as stonework, pond and waterfall installations, rain garden installations, grading and drainage problems, pruning, lawn renovations and maintenance contracts including season cleanup work.  Tony's years of experience, excellence in customer service and attention to detail will ensure a pleasurable working relationship as we create each new garden space.
